While we were in Northern Italy this past summer, we stayed at a Christian retreat center where I saw this artwork. It really got my attention, and I have been trying to identify the artist. This is a picture of unbelievers drowning while Christians continue their business or amusements without noticing the predicament of those around them. Does anyone know anything about this piece?

This artwork was done by an artists at Keith Green's ministry years ago before he died. It is a modern depiction of William Booth's vision that he saw in a dream. This vision of the church in various stages of concern or unconcern about the lost led him to start the Salvation Army. You will notice that those closest to where they were rescued show the most concern. Those who have been "saved" for awhile seem only concerned about getting to heaven or their own lives. You can google the vision and read it. It is very impacting even today. Keith Green was a very popular contemporary Christian music guy in the 70's and 80's before dying in a plane crash. He also founded Last Days Ministries which his wife carries on today. You can purchase these poster from them.

Reminds me a little of a poster I saw at a church in northern Florida. The painting was of two deacons on their knees in the centre aisle, splitting a hair (literally) while sad, lost and hungry people with tears in their eyes were peering in though the church stain glass windows. It made a real impact on my life.
